TEAMS registered for the season four of the annual Nigeria Insurance Games are upbeat about their chances of either consolidating on past outings or improving on their performances, as the tourney kicks off this weekend at the Sports Complex of the University of Lagos, Akoka.
Already primed for the Insurance Game in the Corporate Nigeria Games fixture are Cornerstone Insurance, Sovereign Trust Insurance, Union Assurance, NEM Insurance, Leadway Assurance and competition debutant, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI).
The Insurance Games marks the official start of the Corporate Nigeria 2012 season, which also includes competitions in the Bankers Games, Telecommunications Games and FMCG Games.
The organiser of Corporate Nigeria Games, MediaVision Limited, announced last week that in addition to the football event for men, the registered insurance companies would be fielding their women teams for honours in the table tennis and athletics events to raise their chances of emerging overall champions.
A ceremonial march past will herald the opening ceremony and a novelty match between two Corporate Nigeria Games participants, LM Ericsson and the Stanbic IBTC Bank. It has been projected than no fewer than 2,000 spectators would be on the stands each day at this competition.
MediaVision’s Brand Manager for the Nigeria Insurance Games, Lanre Idris, explained further: “We have put in place a colourful and carnival-like organisation for the opening ceremony and a high quality novelty match to herald this edition and indeed the opening of the 2012 Corporate Nigeria Games season.”
