... Flying Eagles Pass Dope Test

RESULTS of dope tests involving Nigerian players during the group phase of the Fifa U-20 World Cup finals in Canada have shown that the players are very clean.

For the first game against Costa Rica in Victoria, which Nigeria won 1-0, midfielders Solomon Owello and Chukwuma Akabueze were tested. For the second match, the Fifa random selection by Fifa officials again picked Owello, alongside striker Akeem Agbetu.

For the third match against Japan, skipper Ezekiel Bala and defender Robert Egbeta were tested.

All the tests proved there is no banned substance in the system of the Nigerian players and team doctor Ibrahim Gyaran was delighted. "This is good. I am happy that our players have come out clean."

Nigerian fans went agog outside the Frank Clair Stadium after the final whistle in the match against Zambia.

The players came down from the bus to rejoice with the supporters and sang all the way to The Westin Ottawa Hotel, with popular hymns such as 'Come and join sing Halleluyah', "Stand up and tell me if you love my God', 'He's alive Amen' and 'Oh, walk, walk, walk, walking in the light of God' dominating.

The fans have promised to storm the Olympic Stadium in Montreal tomorrow afternoon to cheer the boys to victory over Chile.
